I was hanging out after work and looked outside to see everything blanketed in an otherwordly orange glow. I walked outside and looked west towards the Wasatch mountains. Across the valley the sun was shining unobstructed, hitting an enormous storm cell covering about half of the Salt Lake Valley and the entire mountain range.
I grabbed my camera and drove around my neighborhood hoping for an opening big enough between buildings I would have an clear view of the mountains and storm. As I shot, lightning would strike the peaks. The light was brief but amazing. These are the accurate colors, I actually had to de-saturate a tad to make it look more natural, although when I upload to the DA my colors are always off from what I show in PS. The only adjustments were sharpening, dodge/burn, and contrast boost. Also, I had to clone out some power lines running along the bottom of the frame.
