Remnants of an Ice Ageby *tourofnature

A massive boulder was carried and dropped on this bluff in a more ancient time. More obvious signs of what moved this stone here can be seen in the deep scratches and grooves in the sheered off granite rock the boulder lies on.

During the last Ice Age, this canyon in the Wasatch mountains of Utah was covered in snow and ice as slow moving glaciers helped carve these steep, rugged canyons.

Wow! This is a very striking image. The colours of the rocks, plus the settings and atmosphere all combine to create a very unusual landscape image. The eccentric boulder helps fill the frame and adds a three-dimensional element to the picture.

The glacial striations in the rocks show us the way that the glacier scraped its way through the valley, leaving this rock behind as it retreated. The two diagonal cracks seem to lead our eyes to the rock that is just sitting there. The turbulent sky accentuates the inclusions in the rock. I find this mixture of the warm tones in the foreground contrasted by the cooler colours in the background to be work really well.

From a technical standpoint, the exposure is right on. Your white balance looks good, The only thing that bothers me a bit is that little bit of while rock near the bottom left of the image. My eyes keep flicking over to it, and I wonder if perhaps you should have cropped it out.

Anyways, great image!

Photos like this make me want to live in America. I'm getting bored of Britain's landscape.
I need an adventure! haha
But as mentioned above, very factual and beautiful image
