I've come a long way from when I started taking photos a couple of years ago. Looking back, many of my compositions lacked a strong foreground or point of interest. One thing I love about photography is the more you learn about it, from taking images to processing them, the more you get addicted to it! The possibilities are endless in this medium!
This was taken on the causeway into Antelope Island State Park, you can see the causeway in the distance and get a good idea of where I was when I took this from this shot. [link] I was shooting towards the mountains you see in the distance. The wind was really howling while shooting, you can see this in the motion blur of the shrubs in the foreground.
The light hitting this shrub in the foreground drew me to this composition. My biggest challenge when composing the shot was to try to frame the foreground with the least distraction as possible. There were plants, and weeds all over so I did my best to isolate just this one.
As far as technique, I used a circular polarizer to get that deep blue in the sky and a 2HS GND filter to balance the exposure. To my relief, very little was needed in processing when I got home. I increased the sharpness, removed some dust spots, and reduced noise.
Canon 5D. 17-40mm. 2HS GND. Circ polarizer. Antelope Island SP, UT.
Just need to say that your photos inspire me so much. Every now and then i lose interest in photography , but then i just browse your gallery and go back outside. Thank you so much for sharing all these wonderful shots ! You are one of my top 5 artists in deviantart , easily. Thanks once more !
