The sculpting water of this stream moves silently through the deep fissure in a never ending cascade. This is a rare location in which the relentless flow of time is so easily translated into a physical form.

Zion National Park back country, UT.

Canon 5D. 24-105 L. Circ Polarizer.

Suggester said; "There are so many images that come out of Zion National Park featuring magnificent scenery but I found this one with almost an abstract look to it that really stands out and I feel it could use more exposure. The photographers gallery is full of great photos but this I feel is unique."

I couldn't agree more!

This may not be your best photo from Zion but it certainly has to be one of the more unique. I like the perspective looking straight down and being familiar with the water worn grooves in the sandstone I can easily visualize what I am looking at. The slower shutter speed blurs the water giving the image a sense of motion. That line going down thru the center gives it an abstract look. The fall colors of the leaves are greatly enhanced by the vivid brown of the wet rock surface and there is definite reflective quality of the surface as well. I have no idea how deep this is but I’m really taken by the detail and exposure on the descending wall on the right side. A calendar shot for sure.

Incredible...Such vibrant colors too...I've heard of this park, now I can see why it's so popular.
