A Barn Owl stalking above the rolling sagebrush on the causeway of Antelope Island State Park. I love the muted colors of the Barn Owl, and they are a beautiful bird in flight.
To capture this shot I was driving down the road with my lens hanging out window, steering with my knees trying to keep the correct speed alongside the owl in flight. If you find yourself on the causeway and you see a red car with a lens hanging out the window swerving all over the road, please do not call the authorities.
My brain about exploded from the multi-tasking! Gauging speed, making sure my lens was auto focusing on the owl, staying somewhat on the road, thinking through shutter speeds, reading the light, it was a lot to handle, but a blast to shoot. I was relieved to see I had gotten some in focus when I got home.
